Introducing Carlens Junior Delphin
He was born June 15 or June 16, 2021. You see we are not sure of his exact birthday. Carlens was left in the weeds to die shortly after birth. Or trying to be positive, he was left there so someone could find him.
One of our Jesus Loves Me alum heard of the baby and stepped up and is adopting Carlens.

Junior Delphin came to the Jesus Loves Me Home when he was 2. As Junior grew, I could tell there was something special about him. He was so caring and had a heart for everything. He was the first to volunteer, to work, to help and the last to receive gifts, toys, and food. Junior loved all of the other children at Jesus Loves Me Home and was often taking care of the younger children. He considers himself blessed.
Fifteen years ago I started praying for Junior to desire and crave to be God’s servant. I asked for God to lead him and to continue growing Junior’s compassionate heart. Little did I know where God was going to lead.
Junior is now 28 years old. He works in the church, He is studying very hard to become a social worker. He wants to help all the children of Haiti. He rents a room in a large house.
On June 16, I received an urgent message from Junior. A lady who lives in the same house knew Junior is a Christian, grew up in an orphanage, and that he has a servant’s heart. She came to him hoping he could help.
In the late hours of June 15 or early the 16th, a lady in Ennery gave birth to a baby boy. For whatever reason she left the baby in the weeds. Junior’s friend’s sister happened to be walking by and found the baby suffering. She couldn’t leave the baby, she called her sister, who then talked to Junior. They decided the baby needed to go to the hospital immediately.
God has already prepared Junior’s heart for this baby. Junior has been at the hospital with this baby, praying over him and loving him, day and night. The baby was on oxygen for a week and his levels will have to be watched, otherwise he is perfectly healthy and released from the hospital.
Now what? No one has stepped forward to claim the baby. Jesus loves Me Home is not equipped for newborns. Junior loves the baby already and has decided he wants to keep the baby and has started the legal paperwork. The baby is named Carlens Junior Delphin. Without Junior, Carlens has no one. Junior's heart is so big he cannot turn away from this baby.
Several years ago Junior wrote to me asking if I could help him go on a mission trip. I asked, “Where?” Junior replied, “To a poor place in Haiti.” To myself I snickered a little bit, after 40+ years in Haiti, I never realized there was a “poor place”. I asked Junior why he wanted to go and was humbled by his reply. “Mom, I am so blessed in my life. I want to help my other brothers and sisters to feel love and for them to know Jesus!”
Junior has continued to amaze me throughout the years. One day we were in town, Junior had a few coins, the only money to his name, he gave it all to an elderly woman so she could buy a little rice for the day. Then as you know 3 months ago adopted a discarded newborn.
Adopting Carlens has set Junior’s heart on fire to help his nation. Junior and I talk everyday and every day it is something new he can do to help. It is exciting to hear his thoughts. As he is studying to be a social worker, he is learning a lot and wishes to keep as many children with their families and help them learn to do good.
We know at the moment we are limited on monetary sources and we know his organization need to start small and then grow, but he is starting and it is exciting.
With the help of the Reggie Thomas Scholarship Fund, Junior helped 5 poor children go to school this year. He asked the parents to contribute what they could for school uniforms, then he paid for the rest. He paid for their books, notebooks, shoes, school supplies, and school fees.
I asked Junior why he wanted to help: “The reason I would like to help children is because growing up in an orphanage, I find people who were thinking for me and helping me so I also want to help to give more children help so that they do not fall into bad things so we have a better society.”
Junior has created a name and logo. He would like to have an after school program that would include homework help, learning useful skills, devotions, and more. He also wants to help in a lot of other ways as we are able to gain support for him.
Please pray for Junior and for his huge heart to be protected. Pray for the things he would like to do to help children stay with their families. We need help with this project, if God lays this on your heart.
