Genesis 2:7 "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground,
and
breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living
soul."
We see then that a person has 3 parts: body (dust) , soul( the real
personality which will live forever) , and spirit(breath of life or breath
from God) When the breath of God (spirit) is withdrawn, then the body
returns to dust, but the soul(the real person or personality lives on
forever).
Man has a body of flesh. His Spirit is the inner man. The union of the
Spirit makes man a living soul. He is created in the image of God not
because he has a body, but because he is a personality with the power
of
self determination. He is a moral being. The body came from the dust of
the
earth.....The union of the spirit that God put in him Zech 12;1 makes
him a
living soul. Job 33;4 and Gen 2;7. The Lord formed man(body) of the dust
of
the ground, breathed into his nostrils the breath of life(spirit) and
man
became a living soul. (Animated body). When man dies the spirit has left
the
body. The body returns unto the earth from whence it came and the spirit
returns to the God who gave it. Ecc 12;7 The union of the two is conception.
The separation of the two is death, for as the body without the spirit
is
dead, so faith without works is dead.
Sometimes the scripture calls the inner man the soul, and sometimes it
is
called the spirit. The part is put for the whole. So sometimes they are
used interchangeably and sometimes they are described separately. Jesus
body
went to the grave. His spirit went to paradise which is a part of Hades.
His
soul was not left in hades,(for he went to paradise) and his body did
not
stay in the grave. He was resurrected. When the body and spirit is separated
one is dead. When the reunite, it is resurrection. Everyone in paradise
is
in hades but not every one in hades is in paradise. Everyone in Missouri
is
in the United States but not everyone in the United states is in Missouri.
Acts 2:27 "Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither
wit thou
suffer thine Holy One to see corruption" also verse 31 "He seeing
this
before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left
in
hell, neither his flesh did see corruption."
In these passages we can see clearly that the soul (the personality of
Jesus) was not left in the grave( King James says HELL, but we know that
the
better translation is the GRAVE) and his body did not decay or see
corruption. In these two verses the difference betwen soul and body is
clarified.
The flesh and blood (body and spirit) will not got to Heaven I Cor. 15:50
" I delare to you, brotrhers, that flesh and blood canoot inherit
the
Kingdom of God"
The soul(that is the real you, the real me, the real person) will go to
Heaven. Rev. 20:4 -----And I saw the souls of them---------------
Also Matthew 10:28 teaches that the unrighteous, unsaved souls will go
to
hell. ------"but rather fear him which is able to destory both soul
and
body in hell." (again note the difference between soul and body)
FINALLY I THESS. 5:23 TIES IT ALL TOGETHER "AND THE VERY GOD OF PEACE
SANCTIFY YOU WHOLLY; AND I PRAY GOD YOUR WHOLE SPIRIT AND SOUL AND BODY
BE PRESERVED BLAMELESS UNTO THE COMING OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST."
